Web client: overlay fails or succeeds without notification

In the XUL client, when overlaying record, we get a message when the overlay is successful or when it fails because a duplicate record is found in the local system. The latter gives the TCN of the record. In the web client, there is no confirmation that the overlay succeeded or failed. In order to verify either, must redisplay record and check edit dates and last editor.

Confirmation, or even bringing up the overlayed record, as in XUL client, would be most helpful.

Hi all -- would simply opening up the overlaid record in a new tab (https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1805856) be sufficient? Or is there more feedback that is necessary, especially in case where the overlay fails?

Having a new tab open when overlay is successful is fine. An error msg for failure is better.
