Bug Description

EG 2.10

We would like the option to have the default hold shelf expire interval count open days only. This would just simplify the management of that setting. Currently you have to work out how many open days each site has in a week and set the value appropriately, and then change it if the open days ever change. It would just be nice if it handled it automatically. But I think it should be optional since many sites might prefer the current behavior.

It would also be nice if it skipped closed holiday days also.

Thanks
Josh

Bug 1829295 may be a duplicate of this, but I'm not certain.

Josh, in your description of this bug you included: "Currently you have to work out how many open days each site has in a week and set the value appropriately, and then change it if the open days ever change."

Can you please elaborate on that, perhaps by supplying a concrete example? Thanks!

Hello Jeff,

Here is an example.

For our usage, we want to give each customer a certain number of chances to pickup their holds from the holdshelf.

We have 5 locations that are only open 2 days a week, 4 locations that are open 3 days a week, 3 locations open 4 days a week, 3 open 5, 5 open 6, and one open 7 days a week during the school year. So we have a wide range of different open days at our locations.

If we want to give each customer 7 chances to pickup their holds. Then for the locations open 2 days a week they would need something like 3.5 weeks of calendar days to hit that goal. And if their schedule changes, then we need to go back and make sure we modify the days on the holdshelf.

It would just be nice if the system figured it out on its own.
Josh

Thanks for the example, Josh. Just wanted to note the code I shared in bug 1829295 would address this use case.
