Bug Description
Evergreen 2.7.x && still happening in 2.9.0
OpenSRF: 2.4, N/A
PostgreSQL: 9.3 and 9.1
When you use the Replace Barcode functionality on the Cataloging Menu and you hit the cancel button in the second dialog that accepts the replacement barcode, the staff client throws up an error message:
Rename aborted. Blank for barcode not allowed.
While this may be an accurate statement of what is happening on the back end of things, it can be confusing and counterintuitive. It appears that blank data is being sent to the server and that is why the failure happened, even though the cancel button was pressed. One would expect the Cancel button on the second dialog to silently Cancel the operation in the same manner as that on the original dialog used to gather the barcode to be replaced.
This no longer appears to be happening in 3.2. Replace barcode from Circulation menu does not have a cancel button nor a second dialog. Functionality in item status and Holdings view does not have second dialog. Clicking on cancel closes dialog box as expected
