I really would love to see this feature get into 3.1, and I think a lot of other people would love to see it to. However, I didn't merge it to master due to the concerns I raised in comment #11. It would be difficult to implement this new feature while those other bugs exist. I'm in favor of merging it with the hope that we can get those jquery bugs addressed, but I'm obviously biased and thought that decision might be best left in the hands of a less biased person.
