Bug Description

Evergreen 2.6.0

Almost all of the fields in the Holdings Import Profile are set up so that staff need to manually enter the information. Most of these fields have a limited number of accepted values (ie. Yes or No) and so should be drop down menus like in the Copy Editor. This will ensure that staff are entering the correct values.

The existing fields that should be drop down menus are:

- Circulate
- Circulate as MARC Type (should be "Circulate as Type" to match Copy Editor)
- Circulation Modifier
- Deposit
- Holdable
- OPAC Visible
- Reference
- Status
- Shelving Location (should be "Location / Collection" to match Copy Editor)
- Circulating Library (should be "Circulation Library" to match Copy Editor)
- Owning Library

If added to this interface (see LP 1376427) the following should also have drop down menus:

- Floating?
- Loan Duration
- Fine Level
- Age-based Hold Protection
- Quality

Hi Jennifer,

When we set up our holdings import profiles, we use those fields to identify the subfield of the incoming record that contains the data that will then populate that field. I don't think the dropdown menus would be helpful for us since we never use static values in our profiles.

Hi Kathy,

That shows how often I use the holdings import profiles. I withdraw my bug.

If "static values" are in fact an option, it would be great to have some guidance on how to enter static values. I don't think that _mandatory_ dropdowns are the best option (because subfields or xpaths are valid too) but I've been floundering with this (and I'm not the only one [1] - thanks kmlussier for your help!). I'd be grateful if there was a way to display the list of valid (code) values in the interface so that we don't have to have database access to set this up.

Rosie, for the record, Dan Wells and I couldn't find any evidence that Evergreen supports static values in Holdings Import Profile fields. However, see the docs section below for a few library settings that let you choose default import values. If there are other fields you'd like to set defaults for, you could open a new Launchpad bug for that.

I will add this link to the docs section about import profiles.
