Bug Description

Evergreen master

On a few occasions, staff members have told me that they find the existing sound level for the red alert noise (aka, redalert.wav the sound heard during mis-scans in item status/checkin, etc.) to be too loud compared to other noises in the stock staff client. This is especially jarring if they raise the volume on their PC high in order to hear the more sedate bop sound on regular checkin (aka toggle.wav)

I finally decided to take a look at this and used Audacity to alter the existing sound clip and play it back at a lower volume (lowered by around 25 dB). Someone else may want to play with this further if we choose to try something else.

Working branch forthcoming with the my replaced redalert.wav file.

I've tried the new version and to my ear it seems a bit too quiet, especially in comparison with question.wav. Maybe bump up the volume a bit?

Thanks for the feedback Galen. I'll poke at this again and see if we can reach a happier balance point for the sounds.

Removing pullrequest while I work on this further.

Removing milestone for now. Probably won't poke at this during 2.8 after all.
