Looking up a nonexistent ID via Retrieve item by database ID fails in different ways

Bug Description
Staff client -> Cataloging -> Retrieve Title via database ID -> Enter a non-existent ID.
If you entered a numeric value, EG will pop up a javascript error "Error in bib_brief_
If you enter "123xxx", you get a "Bad Request"
If you enter "xxx" or a negative number, you'll get the results page, but with no data. No errors either.
Ideally this should pop up a window "foo not found", like what Retrieve title by TCN does.
