Bug Description

Especially since we recommend installing on 64 bit linux to begin with.

The branch below adds support for building a 64 bit client, updates and all, on Linux.

Fabulous, thanks Thomas & Ben. I've pushed this to master - not sure if this qualifies as a bug fix for rel_2_3, but the update to make_release to avoid bundling itself looks like it probably should.

Dan, FWIW, I agree on pushing to 2.3. I wonder, though, if "make linux-client" should build both instead of just going away?
