Backend running, seems hung, can't kill

Bug Description

So, in 0.4.2 for an IRC user named Casper, and in trunk for me, when entertainer starts, it just returns. On examination, the backend is running, and the CPU is maxed out, and the process cannot be killed. It doesn't go away until a reboot.

That is not quite what I experience.

When I run entertainer it just returns. It does not start the backend. My backend was running because I started it manually. Trying to run entertainer with the backend running but the option to start the backed automatically disabled also just causes entertainer to return. There is no output to the console, and no output to the logfile.

Okay, so it looks like Casper's issue was a bug in Fedora. My issue is still there. I'm backing off the Critical, but I'd like to find out what the problem is, so I'm leaving it as High. It's very likely that I've just been experiencing some crazy race condition that doesn't happen often, but I want the bug to act as a bookmark.
