Sometimes Enchanting doesn't recognize that an NXT is plugged in

Michael reports in an e-mail:

Sometimes Enchanting can not connect to the NXT (the green flag is crossed out). Even switching off the NXT does not help anymore. Even if you close the Enchanting program and restart it, doesn’t help. Only after a reboot of the laptop, enchanting finds the connection to the NXT. Unfortunately I can not tell you exactly how to reproduce this error.

I, too, have seen this behaviour, mostly on S. Walter's computer. I think we reinstalled the driver twice to deal with issues, and hope it is working properly now.

If anyone has any idea how to reproduce this issue, please say so!

I have the same problem (Ubuntu 11.10). In my case, never detect the brick. In Windows XP works good!

Alan,

is your NXT detected by anything under Ubuntu? Have you set up the
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf file similar to the way shown
here<http://enchanting.robotclub.ab.ca/Ubuntu+Development+Guide>(or,
perhaps, more clearly,
here<http://lejos.sourceforge.net/nxt/nxj/tutorial/Preliminaries/GettingStartedLinux.htm#3>).
 [Do you happen to know if leJOS sees the brick?]

If I make lsub on terminal:

Bus 003 Device 003: ID 0694:0002 Lego Group Mindstorms NXT

And I have the udev rules correct!

With Python-NXT I can use it without problems!

I don't know what is the problem...

I have Ubuntu (11.10) 32 bits...

Hmm. I don't know what to say -- it has been some time since I tried
enchanting under Ubuntu.
