Interesting. Thank you, Ludwig, for bringing this to my attention.

Which operating system are you using, and which version of Enchanting?

If you go into the Enchanting folder (probably C:\Program Files
(x86)\Enchanting), you'll see there is a batch file called
"verbose_enchanting.windows.bat". Would you run it, once as an admin, and
once as a regular user, and collect the results (I think you can copy the
contents of the command window and paste it into a text file and attach it
to a reply e-mail) so I can analyze them?

Lastly, was this just a regular install of Enchanting, or has it been
repackaged or had other adjustments made to it? (Not that that should make
much difference).

If you need more detail or get stuck on any of the steps, please let me
know.

Cheers,
Clinton Blackmore

Hi Ludwig.

I looked into the issue tonight. I compared the logs you provided, and
then tried it out on my Windows XP computer, where I was unable to recreate
the issue.

Are these just regular "limited" users for Windows XP? They aren't, say,
some sort of network account of managed account, or have anything else
unusual about them, do they?

Cheers,
Clinton

Hi Clinton.

I suppose these are Network-accounts in a Domain. I wrote the admins, and hopefully get an quick answer. If they are just regular network-accounts with user rights - or if they have special limitations.
Could you imagine which limitations on normal Network-accounts are the Problem? Or could you test it with a "normal" Network-account?

thanks,
Ludwig

Hi Ludwig.

I work as a system administrator for a Mac-based school division, and I
know we've had weird issues with network accounts. For example, Microsoft
Office (2003, 2008) gives users grief when they save files, some of the
time, unless the administrator creates a special, hidden folder at the root
of the file share. Or, Photoshop Elements wouldn't let network users
access all of the tools (and I'm not certain that we ever resolved that
one).

That said, I'd like Enchanting to work with network accounts, too. I
really don't know how I'd test it with Windows, though; I have vague ideas
as to what is involved in setting up a domain controller, but don't have
access to the software. [Hmm... I wonder if work does have access to it.]

In any event, I'd be happy to know if things work any different with a
local, non-admin account -- which I can/did test against -- but after that,
I may well need help diagnosing the problem.

Cheers,
Clinton
