Bug Description

Binary package hint: empathy

When you try to run a command for instance /whois you get a message that says unsupported command. These are basic functions in IRC.

Dear Share, Can you attach or include more details about this problem like version of empathy that you has installed?. I have ubuntu jaunty x86, empathy 2.27.3-2ubuntu1~ppa9.04+1 and I can confirm that there isn't available some commands for IRC like "whois".

Im on the most recent version in karmic Empathy 2.27.3
There is a few commands that dont work like some commands are fairly basic like /msg nickserv help , /nick , /help

The attached archive provides patches for basic IRC command functionalities for Empathy 2.28.0.

telepathy-idle must be patched separately.
My first patch anyways.

chjurk: check the upstream gnome bug, there are comments on your patch that you should probably read and respond to there and keep in communication there. I believe they want to work with what you have to make it what they want to have.

using empathy 2.29.3 on lucid.
not a big one but
/part says Unknown command, see /help for the available commands
and joining multi channels like /join #ubuntu,#ubuntu+1 gives: - Failed to join chatroom

other commands seem to be working.

The bug was about poor IRC support which is fixed, if you have specific issues with some commands open new bugs for those

i can connest to various servers, but cannot join various rooms. All i recieve is the unsupported command message after typing /join #irchannel etc.
