Can kunena be used as an email list?

As per various discussions, it would be great to have a mailing list that integrates email and the kunena forums. Kunena can easily do board -> email. Posting to the board from email is the next big challenge. It can be easily done with this free / commercial plugin:

I think we could try the free version and see if it meets any needs.

Just touching into this subject again related to a few other things. Andrew, do you mind installing "Post by email" from that first link ( http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/news-production/microblogging/12215 ) to see if this will do what we need?
