Bug Description

There should be a package with elementary country flags for the different keyboard layouts, like russian, german, english, esperanto etc. The files have to be XX.svg like, and should be in the directory "flags" in /usr/share/pixmaps so the path would be: /usr/share/pixmaps/flags . Currently there is just a "keyboard" icon, and than the name, as example: de.

The icons should be available for ALL languages that gnome does support. If not, it would see ugly for those "unsupported" flags.

We need monochrome icons.

Some flags:

http://www.famfamfam.com/lab/icons/flags/ -- free to use for us
http://icondrawer.com/free.php - free if we share the website link
http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/?content=140209 - free to use for us

But I think it would be the best, to have our own ones.
So who should do country flags, and package them? I thought about Dan for the flags. For packaging I think shnatsel would be the best :-)

Definitely agree. I've been using the country text icons from here (the last screenshot) for months now. They blend in perfectly with elementary: http://www.webupd8.org/2011/05/how-to-remove-keyboard-indicator-icon.html.

The flags in that article from aroman do not fit into "wingpanel", becouse they need a "white background" to look correctly.

Also the icons from avi do not support some layouts, that GNOME does. as example esperanto. The icons have to be monochrome, becouse of the black panel.

O.o I've been using those icons with wingpanel for months.

But yeah it would be super awesome to get them packaged! ;)
