I've been using it for half a day and it feels more logical and so much smoother!

i agree, but it would be better changin every configuration in order to be in harmony with others.

OK, I'll test this on my production machine for longer time, let's see if I still like it after a month of usage.

Duration 80 or 100 is irritating; set back to 150 shown in the video.

I agree that looks nice

150 feels too slow after a day of usage. Switched to 130.

I'm absolutely comfortable with 120 now. 60 is also cute in its own way, but 120 feels smoother.

I, too, have been using this (at 150 for a while now). I'll try 120 and see how it feels. The only problem I have is very large secondary menus (like the Input Methods one) look a little awkward because they're actually zooming from the mouse pointer's position (they're not just expanding). There's a "from center" option in the animation configuration. I wonder if we could hack/copy this to make it from top-right?

This has a side effect of applying this animation to any Firefox pop-ups (search engine dropdown, menu bar, etc), but we can add an exception for Firefox.

After playing with this on various hardware, going back to "instant" (no effect) for opening really feels the most consistent/least buggy. On even slightly slower hardware with anything going on in the background the zoom animation would either stutter or not happen at all, and there's still the ugly side-effects of bigger menus and whatnot.

Are these test results from Compiz 0.8 or 0.9?
