Bug Description

Not much to say really, touchpad didn't work out of the box. The eee pc uses a synaptics pad, which works out of the box with pretty much every distro I have tried.
the relevant package is
xf86-input-synaptics
Should obviously be a simple fix

this package should definitely be included by default

I'll have a look at this for Luna. Don't expect a fix in Jupiter though.

Hey man, launch gconf-editor, navigate in to /desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/ and try to set the value of scroll_method in "1". !!

it works on my eee-pc 900. even with the package removed.

What's the current status of this bug?

Seems like a simple package addition as the reporter suggested would resolve this. Any reason we haven't/aren't/shouldn't do that?

Xinput is kinda obsolete, those things are done via kernel now. I'm not sure how Synaptics operates (or will operate) in Oneiric, especially after the addition of UTouch support to it. We need more testing.

"Won't fix" in Jupiter because we don't have any technical possibility to push SRUs for package set in Jupiter.

Doesn't seem to affect Luna.
