If two-finger scrolling isn't available, fall back to edge-scrolling [$10]

Trackpad support is baked into the kernel, and varies device-to-device. Scrolling via the trackpad is a must for many people. While most agree that two-finger scrolling is the ideal, sometimes it is not available. In this case, we should detect this (at install time) and fall back to edge-scrolling.

I am however slightly concerned about inconsistency, so maybe a quick prompt at install time for initial-configuration is useful?

This looks like a backend feature request, wrapping it on frontend side is far more difficult. I guess we should forward it upstream.
And no annoying prompts on startup, please.

In Oneiric most touchpads will work in multitouch mode (unlike Maverick which didn't support half of multitouch ones).

I'm re-adding the branch for completeness' sake. Also, we might very well go with this solution for Luna if it works. Maybe it's not the best option, but time's short and I personally have no idea how to do this on the package level. Thanks a lot for your work, Sergio!

While this would be cool, there hasn't been any movement on it for a while and I don't think it's 100% essential for beta1.

Hopefully we can get it sorted in beta2.

This is probably the job of libinput. Marking as "won't fix" for elementary OS.
