Bug Description

On my laptop computer (further hardware details below), when the energy cable is plugged in, once I flip down the display, Loki doesn't appropriately enter the suspension/energy saving mode. The display seems to actually turn off, and the computer activity also seems to go considerably lower, and even the coolers go more silent, but the front led that indicates whether the computer is in energy saving mode or not remains unchanged. And once I flip up the screen, the display won't turn on again, and the computer won't recover from the energy saving mode at all. Tried pressing every single key on my keyboard, and even the Power button, for no avail).

This doesn't happen when I'm using energy from the battery. By the way, by unplugging the power cable and flipping the screen down and then up again, the energy saving mode front led light turns on, and it comes back from suspension again.

Not sure this information is helpful, but I used to experience this issue with other distros, like Unity Ubuntu, both 14.04 and 16.04, but it never happened to me back when I was using Freya, this being by the way one of the main reasons why I've chosen to use ElementaryOS.

These are my hardware specs:

Manufacturer: ACER
Series/Model: Aspire E14 / E5-471-30DG
Processor: Intel Core i3-5005U 2.0 Ghz
RAM: 8GB DDR3

Not running on dual boot. Not sure if this info helps, but I chose to encrypt my home folder upon installation (and only this folder, not the whole installation). Not using LVM. Using a single hard drive with no separate partitions for different system folders.

Thank you in advance for your assistance, and let me know if you need any further information.

Kind regards,

Marco
