can't install wingpanel from staging while running daily

I added ppa:elementary-os/staging to my system and installed the new wingpanel, greeter, and indicators. unfortunately wingpanel held over from daily. when I put a higher priority on staging install failed with:

Reading state information... Done
You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 wingpanel : Depends: libmutter0d (= 3.12.2-1ubuntu99~elementary0.3.8) but 3.12.2-1ubuntu99~elementary0.3.9 is installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try using -f.

installing libmutter0d with:

sudo apt-get install --reinstall libmutter0d=3.12.2-1ubuntu99~elementary0.3.8

returns no packages.

I believe this can be fixed by rebuilding the staging version of wingpanel against the new version of libmutter.
