Bug Description
I can't find this as a bug anywhere. I'm running Freya and when I attempt to change the update settings in the "Software & Updates" -> "Updates" tab the checkbox is always unchecked. If you attempt to change it it will ask for authentication, become checked, then very quickly uncheck itself.
The issue was reported here but without resolution to the underlying problem: http://

Confirmed. This happens on Elementary Freya. It causes further issues where apt will report "duplicate entries" when updating the system. It becomes especially confusing since the checkboxes lose their meanings: the user has no idea, based on the "Software Sources" window, whether or not certain update repositories are enabled.
This issue does NOT exist in Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Kubuntu, Linux Mint, or any other *buntu flavor. It only happens in Elementary Freya.
