Bug Description

I have two USB disks, one has elementary OS freya 20150411 dd'd to it and the other has Ubuntu 14.04.1 dd'd to it. When I boot them both on my MacBook Pro 11,1; only the Ubuntu disk provides a UEFIBoot entry, the elementary OS disk only provides the Legacy boot option (labeled Windows), which the Ubuntu disk also provides. As a result of this, the installer does not install elementary OS correctly to the system (it fails to install grub-efi), leaving the system in a broken state (it boots to the grub prompt). If you look in the EFI partition, it will not contain any of the expected ubuntu/elementary efi files.

Since Elementary often mentions how perfectly suitable it is for MacBooks, this bug is critical. The installer does not work on MacBooks, while the current Ubuntu installer does.

I believe rebasing the installer should do. I also got into GRUB command line after installation, while Ubuntu worked fine.

I tried installing Ubuntu and afterwards installing Elementary over the Ubuntu partition using the Custom option in the partition config step, but it still didn't work. I'm now trying the "Install alongside Ubuntu" option.

I have a 2010 MacBook Pro
