Resume from suspend to frozen desktop then kernel panics

Bug Description
Suspend is not working on my hardware. Either resumes to black screen or frozen desktop, then kernel panic falls back to console.

This appears to be a resume bug. Either greyed out log screen will show or desktop with frozen system tray & launcher (mouse moves.) Eventually mouse freezes, then kernel panic message white text on black screen.
I had to set;
GRUB_CMDLINE_ LINUX_DEFAULT= "quiet splash nomodeset"
Option to get install to boot.
