Bug Description

To reproduce install emacs24 and run it:

sharms@tawas:~/Downloads$ emacs
X protocol error: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes) on protocol request 139
When compiled with GTK, Emacs cannot recover from X disconnects.

The problem is not with emacs but with the elementary theme (gtk+), changing the theme on ubuntu 14.04 solves this problem. Not sure if it solves with elementary since it do not allows the theme to be change. Must be fixed since emacs is widely used.
