Empathy accounts window shows and then disappears

Bug Description

I can no longer configure empathy accounts; the accounts dialog opens and then hides immediately. One of the accounts has been disabled, and I'd like to remove it, because empathy keeps prompting me every 2 hours.

When I ran empathy from the command line, you can see some assertion is failing:

ERROR:empathy-contact-widget.c:402:contact_widget_details_update_edit: assertion failed: (spec != NULL)

This bug is also the same as the bug here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/empathy/+bug/1198865

A temporary workaround is to go offline before opening the Accounts window.
