Bug Description

The last step of Ubiquity (if you have an internet connection) should be a donation step.

Most likely at this point the user has tried elementary and is making a commitment (by installing it). We should take a moment to remind them that we're a volunteer organization and that their donations could really help.

I think it would be good to have this step present when the system isactually installing. Requesting donations in this way would allow the user to have time to think about it, as opposed to wanting to just install the system quickly. Also, it isn't very intrusive since it isn't an actual installation *step*.

I agree with Cameron too. Furthermore back in time there was a donation dialog for the applications you use very often. This
should be implemented too.

I think it should be when the user has actually used the system for an amount of time, with other heuristics such as how often they use it, what time you ask for a donation etc. Then you could apply statistics and A/B testing to see what combination of factors maximises donations.

I think a donation step/screen should better be shown after the installation process at the very first start of the fresh installed system.

Is this still relevant, given the pay-what-you-want kind of website?

I agree with Jacob Parker -- asking the user to support something it hasn't even tried yet is bound to prodce a lower donation rate.

A simple usage hour count (not just uptime, but based on active mouse/keyboard activity) should be enough. I'd suggest the equivalent of a week of usage, with the possibility to snooze to later, or dismiss the dialog permanently.
