 The system reads above 56 celcius with fan already in high mode (@DELL Inspiron N4010).

Mine is at 64.0ºC and I only have the terminal and chrome opened(without any flash or heavy stuff opened)

Well I managed to get 55ºC (less 9ºC) and less fan noise installing TLP and bumblebee, check this answer about TLP http://askubuntu.com/a/285681 and here's the bumblebee: http://bumblebee-project.org/install.html

Bug is really old.

Also, the other bit sounds like optimus problems. Which are, sadly, normal.
