Bug Description
elementary should have some kind of global transfers indicator which would show the sending and receiving of data. The most common use case would be quick access to Downloads without having to open the app (like Midori or Transmission). But it could also show things like Seeding information or sending a file through tubes.

Exporting process progress to an indicator was implemented a while ago; there was a spec for it, an indicator implementation and I think branches of Nautilus and Brasero supporting it. I used to think it's a good idea but now I think it's better to use progressbars in the dock.
As for a central location to view and manage downloads, I'm all for it, here's the blueprint: https:/ /blueprints. launchpad. net/elementaryo s/+spec/ downloader- service
