Bug Description
Please revert #725610 as it makes the desktop unusable: It is no longer possible to do anything useful with it, e.g. place icons, files, folders, and launchers on the desktop.
For me personally this is a grave bug as it effectively "kills the desktop" and makes the OS unusable.
At the very least, make the desktop a dconf configurable optoin.
