Bug Description

Using workspaces is something that can really improve usability and productivity.

I think elementary could make a big step forward as making the Files app open a new instance when opened on a new workspace and already running in another one.

In fact, you only want to browse files or open something when you open Files, with no need to come back to another workspace to come again to the actual workspace after opening the file.

It's great to have the apps (scratch / midori / maya ...) sticking to one workspace, but the Files is a special one and deserves imho a special treatment.

Let's share our thoughts about that !

For now you can use middle click to open a new application window.

Yes you are right, that's what I'm doing by now. But I'm thinking of the ones that do not use a mouse :)

This has nothing to do with Gala currently. Gala is not launching application nor it decides on which workspace it shows up. This more a designed behavior of plank. Using the middle-click should already provide that.
