All,

execute my ignorance – what do you mean by “net installer” ? I did google this a bit and couldn’t specifically relate this to what you guys are trying to do.
Could you explain to me a bit more about this net installer ? ( a link is good enough), and what are you aiming for ? what exact commands used is even better.
Also I would love more details about the exact setup, i.e. what device is connect to what port, how many devices are connect to the ARMADA board ? what raid are you building ?

Thanks in advance.
Seif

@Seif, the description contained a link to the problem (original) uImage/uInitrd but here's a link to the current one:

http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/dists/precise/main/installer-armhf/current/images/armadaxp/

As for the instructions, there's a set here (until the Precise instructions are posted to http://releases.ubuntu.com/12.04/ ):

http://testcases.qa.ubuntu.com/Precise/Install/NetBoot-armadaxp

The RAID test setup was attempting to install a two disk RAID10 but failed during install as noted but RAID can be configured after install or with work-arounds if needed.

fyi, I'm unable to reproduce. I did two installs, the first like this:

 /dev/sda
      /dev/sda1 -> 256M /boot, ext2
      /dev/sda2 -> 18G raid
      /dev/sda3 -> 2G swap
 /dev/sdb
     /dev/sdb1 -> 18G raid

I created a raid1 device w/ /dev/sda2 & /dev/sdb1 using ext4, and mounted it as /.

My second attempt looked like this:

 /dev/sda
      /dev/sda1 -> 256M /boot, ext2
      /dev/sda2 -> 18G raid
      /dev/sda3 -> 2G swap
      /dev/sda4 -> [restofdisk], /, ext4
 /dev/sdb
     /dev/sdb1 -> 18G raid

And I created a RAID10 out of /dev/sda2 & /dev/sdb1 using ext4, mounted as /home.

I noticed in your syslog that you were using an old installer based on the 3.0 kernel - can you retest w/ the official/released netboot tarball for precise?
