Bug Description
All popover controls on my system has on the right side ca. +6px more margin than on the left side.

Gonna mark this as invalid. As far as I can tell this is just a problem in a few specific apps. You need to hexpand your widgets so they take up the full amount of allotted space.
Particularly in footnote, just hexpand that button.
I don't see anything to suggest this is a stylesheet issue.
