Bug Description
I am in Ubuntu 18.04 trying to mount my encrypted home directory from an old installation using ecryptfs-
It looks like this:
mathias@
INFO: Found [.].
Try to recover this directory? [Y/n]: Y
INFO: Found your wrapped-passphrase
Do you know your LOGIN passphrase? [Y/n] Y
INFO: Enter your LOGIN passphrase...
Passphrase:
Inserted auth tok with sig [c***************] into the user session keyring
ERROR: The key required to access this private data is not available.
I have attached a screenshot of a couple of other attempts. There is nothing related in /var/log/syslog.
I am not a developer and have little knowledge of how ecryptfs works, but I am under the impression that this is the correct approach, and that it should work. If it isn't, please correct me (but then the correct approach should probably have been communicated more clearly). I will be happy to help in debugging this if you have questions.
It took me a while to figure out how to mount it manually, but in the end it worked using
sudo mount -t ecryptfs /media/
so I don't really need help anymore, but this took me quite some time, and I would like to help do something about it.
