Add update sites and enable them by default

Bug Description
The update sites should be available by default in the update menu, which is currently not happening.
At least the update site for the current release should be there, but it would be nice to have the sites
for a number of popular plugins as well (e.g., subclipse).
Should this list be there by default (in the source package), as a separate package or something else?
