Directory not made for fonts

I was installing Easy Ubuntu on Xubuntu 6.10 and when I installed the MS fonts, I got the error that /usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc was either not there or wasn't a directory. As it turned out, there was not the directories /usr/lib/X11/fonts nor /usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc. I am not good at telling what fonts are installed, so I do not know if the fonts just got installed elsewhere or not. But the error message was there, and there wasn't the two directories.
