Bug Description

Hi,

When running EasyUbuntu I get the following error message:
Error: Impossible to apply changes. Repair broken packages first.
(This is an aproximate translation from the French message:
Erreur: Impossible d'appliquer les changements. Réparez d'abord les paquets cassés.)

I can understand (more or less) what's going on: there is something wrong with some of my packages.
I narrowed it down to two checkboxes (I managed to get everything else working) that will be prompting this message whenever I check them :
 - on Tab 2 - "Videos: Enable viewing videos embedded in webpages in totem"
 - on Tab 4 - "Repository list: Main universe, Multiverse, and PLF"

So now, I have everything greyed out but these 2 which I don't manage to install (plus the Nvidia one as I have ATI).

And still, I can NOT play DVDs ! ;-(

Let me know,
L.

PS: I consider this is not a duplicate of #47789 as I haven't upgraded from Breezy Badger, and I fail on two options and not one ... but may be, I am wrong ! ;-)

On Dapper 6.06.1 checking Videos:enable viewing videos embedded in webpages with totem fails with the Fix broken packes message.

This bug relates to bug 47789.

This issue still exists, but it does not appear to be an easyubuntu issue. The issue is the totem-gstreamer 1.4.3-0ubuntu1 that is installed on many people's computers, but appears to be greater than the Dapper version:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/dapper/gnome/totem-gstreamer

I encountered the same issue today with an updated Dapper system.

$sudo apt-get install totem-gstreamer-firefox-plugin
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  totem-gstreamer-firefox-plugin: Depends: totem-gstreamer (= 1.4.1-0ubuntu4) but 1.4.3-0ubuntu1 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

lloyd@lloyd-laptop:/bak/ubuntu/easyubuntu$ dpkg -l | grep -i totem-gstreamer ii totem-gstreamer 1.4.3-0ubuntu1 A simple media player for the Gnome desktop

WORK AROUND

$sudo apt-get remove totem-gstreamer

$sudo apt-get install totem-gstreamer-firefox-plugin ubuntu-desktop
