Bug Description

I'm not sure what this is caused by, but others in the forum seem to have the same problem. All other wireless functions work fine.

Please try this latest kernel:

After you've installed it and before reboot execute the following commands:
update-initramfs -c -k 2.6.30.3-ep1
update-grub

alee, did that or 1.5 fix it for you or is this still an issue?

I'm running the 1.6beta1 on an eee 901 and 802.11n is not working but, same as the above problem, 802.11G is working.

These 2.6.30 kernels you posted appear to be gone; besides, I'm running the Easy Peasy stock:
Linux version 2.6.32-14-generic (buildd@vernadsky) (gcc version 4.4.3 (Ubuntu 4.4.3-2ubuntu2) ) #20-Ubuntu SMP Sat Feb 20 05:38:50 UTC 2010

Any thoughts on what to do? Is this just missing the proper Ralink driver or is it missing a patch? I'm looking through the config right now and don't see the option.

Thanks for your help!

Ah, I see the device is listed as wlan0 not ra0
It sounds like the serialmonkey driver is loading which isn't quite prime time for the Ralink card:
http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1281398.html

modprobe rt2860sta
Doesn't seem to fix the problem. I'm bringing down the wlan0 device first but do I need to remove a competing module?

I downloaded the Ralink source following these direction:
http://www.ayetea.com/updating-the-rt8260-80211n-wireless-network-driver-from-source.html

The source link in the article is broken but I was able to find a driver navigating to:
http://www.ralinktech.com/support.php?s=2
With a date of: 01/29/2010

Just did the edits to allow WPA, make; make install and modprobed it in and bam. Wireless N started working fine. The device showed up as ra0 as it did with Easy Peasy 1.5

the status of this should correlate with the fix for the the rt2860 + WPA2 issue in 1.6.
with the current firmware + current bios + current driver, wireless N and all securities function on the 901.

the need for a updated rt2860 driver is a known issue and a fix is in the works.
