The Notification area is deprecated per http://
Ear Candy needs an alternative way to be summoned and configured - should it be added to the Sound menu? Is an indicator needed? (in my opinion, no, since it doesn't actually indicate anything other than that Ear Candy is present).

This issue is even more critical now that Natty / Unity are on the horizon. Running Ear Candy means that there is NO user interface as there is no notification area in Natty.
