Bug Description
This is more a feature request than a bug report.
I use E17 as my primary window manager, running for weeks to months at a time. Needless to say, I end up having a lot of terminals/apps open on a lot of desktops. When E17 locks up, I lose a lot of state.
I have encountered the odd situation where a misbehaving program (praat!) or mouse driver (e.g. the macbook touchpad) causes E17 to stop responding. The screen image does not update, mouse clicks and keyboard commands (except ctrl-alt-f#) are ignored, and I have to switch to a Linux console to kill the thing. In these situations, the E17 segfault handler is not called, and the new dbus-based version of enlightenment_
Would it be possible to have signal (such as HUP, USR1, or USR2) cause E17 to restart or present the segfault handler screen? That would be *tremendously* useful in these situations, and would solve the only real stability problem I've encountered with E17.
I would hack a signal handler in and supply a patch, but I haven't been able to get E17 to compile since 2006 or so. The build truly is a death of a thousand cuts these days, even with the instructions provided in the wiki.
