Bug Description

I hope you're not gonna kill me for asking this, but contributing to this project is quite hard, and partly that's because it's using a VCS that is dead for about 7 years now.

https://www.jelmer.uk/pages/bzr-a-retrospective.html is an interesting read on the matter.

Launchpad itself is also not much user-friendly as compared to what devs of today are used to. Although it supports Git AFAICS in https://bugs.launchpad.net/launchpad/+bug/1032731, so at least moving to Git inside Launchpad would be a big enhancement.

However I'd suggest moving to the amazing open source Gitlab, which can host open source projects for free in gitlab.com. github.com and bitbucket.com are other closed-source-but-free-to-use good options.

Every time I want to contribute this is a stopper for me. I think that making this change would benefit Duplicity a lot, which is itself great.

Thanks!

We are already planning on moving to Gitlab once the Python 2/3 conversion is underway.

You could submit patches for most bugs. Use "diff -au old new" to provide context.

Changed in duplicity:
status: New → In Progress
assignee: nobody → Kenneth Loafman (kenneth-loafman)
importance: Undecided → Medium
