Backup to same target under different names

Bug Description

My sftp target_url is normally identified by a particular host name/IP on the local network. But I occasionally need to back up to that location from elsewhere, using an internet host name/IP and a different port number for sftp. Duplicity doesn't recognize this as the same backup and starts creating a new backup at the target location, rather than making a new incremental backup based on the previous full backup. Any possibility to support this use case? Thanks!

Try using the --name option to force the same archive cache location, and possibly --allow-source-mismatch if the source name changes as well. Let me know if you have problems.

Changed in duplicity:

Marking as invalid since the --name option with --allow-source-mismatch will allow this to succeed. It is operating as designed to keep users from mixing backups.

Changed in duplicity:
importance: Medium → Undecided
milestone: 0.7.14 → none
status: In Progress → Invalid
