Bug Description

Another future function to think about.

At the moment, we simply copy over the DL from the live server and put it onto the test server for testing purposes. However, we are aware that this means that the DL might well end up emailing users when their documents are due to expire both from the test server and the live server (so they will get two emails saying the same thing).

To avoid this, we could simply blank out the email settings in the DL on the test server so that it doesn't send *any* emails at all. However, if we need to test emails on the test server then obviously we can't have that blank all the time.

What we might need is a much cleverer solution, if only we can think of one!

This issue relating to differentiating between the LIVE and the TEST document libraries has come up again recently now that we have a new TEST instance (a copy of the LIVE from the end of July).

The only difference between emails coming from TEST and LIVE is the URL in the email that you click to edit your document will have the TEST URL rather than the LIVE URL. It's not obvious and is something I didn't personally spot recently. I updated a few documents on TEST that should have been from LIVE. Others have done the same.

So, is there something (a variable or something else that can be automated and that will make sense) that can be inserted into the email templates which will then indicate if the email is TEST or LIVE?

Hello,

Well you can always edit the email templates to says that it comes from the TEST server in the subject line, but it is rather painfull, as you need to do it each time the production data is copied to the test one (but we don't do it often), for each templates (the ten or so of them).

After we could imagine an option in the development configuration option that do modify all templates to add a [TEST site] in front of each Subject line automatically.

But a bit of code need to be written for that.

  Sylvain,
