JAVA applications/windows are grouped

Bug Description

When I use two Java-based programs, such as Matlab and Jabref, they are being grouped under the icon of the first started program. This happens in Docky 2.1.0 bzr docky r1575 ppa on Ubuntu Karmic, Java version 6.20dlj-0ubuntu1.9.10.

I know about the window grouping based programming, as there was a question about ungrouping windows of the same kind, which is essentially what this is; however I feel that it's not very intuitive in this case, especially if you're not aware that it may happen and you find yourself looking for an icon that's hidden behind a totally different one...

Java programs suck. They require a bit of extra work on your part, and there is nothing more we can do about it. Please read here:

This problem is not limited to java programs only. I would like to report that I see incorrect grouping with Netbeans IDE and "Terminal Server Client" (tsclient) Application. How to fix this?

Actually the bad grouping occurs once i use the tsclient and rdesktop app is running.

One more thing, i don't appreciate comments such as "Java programs suck. They require a bit of extra work on your part". Do you honestly think that average user who tries out Docky will think " oh yeah it's the java application that I use that is the problem". So what do you think it will happen here? The user will stop use of it's favorite application that happens to be written in java, or will they turn off docky instead?

Lucky for us i am sure there are not many users out there who might observe this behavior.

DO NOT TOUCH our bug status. This bug, as reported, is Invalid. If you have another bug, feel free to file it. Java programs (which by the way, Netbeans is!) are not, for the most part, matchable by Docky and there is nothing more we can do. There are workarounds as I stated, but from our end we have done everything possible.

Well, you seem to be making a case for incorrectly grouping between two or more Java applications, which is not true. As I showed, incorrect grouping occurs between one java application and one native linux application. By the way, Eclipse IDE is a java application and it does not cause this incorrect grouping. I am sure with eclipse, it has to do with the fact that it does not use Swing GUI and that it has an executable launcher instead of a script for starting up. But still, this is a good example where your blanket statement about java applications is not valid.

You can sit and try to argue with me all you want. It is not helping your case. As I said before, THIS BUG IS CLOSED. THIS BUG IS INVALID. *IF* YOU HAVE *ANOTHER* BUG, FILE IT. There will be no more comments from the dev team on this bug report.

Hey, I just tried to have a constructive argument. Trust me, with attitude like yours, I will not put another second into this discussion. I only hope you can learn to look at other's feedback more objectively. But honestly, don't need you to respond, at this point I lost interest in what you have to say. Good day sir !!!
