Bug Description

It would be nice to have a helper for Empathy (and probably other Telepathy-based clients) that provides unread count badge and presence settings.

Here's a very preliminarily try to implement unread count. After some polishing, it probably can become a real helper. :-)

Excellent work Dan! I've installed your 'preliminary' helper and it appears to work just fine. One question, was it your intention that the badge should display the number of unread messages as opposed to the number of unread contacts (i.e. two unread messages from contact Bob Roberts show as 2 in the badge, versus showing as 1 in the badge).

That is the same way the Pidgin helper works.
