Bug Description

As summary. Do appears underneath fullscreen windows.

(09.03.47| andywatts)) Is there anyway to make gnome-do display on top of all other windows. If I have a fullscreen gnome-terminal or firefox, gnome-do open behind them. tia
(09.04.19| RAOF)) andywatts: THat's a good point.
(09.04.30| RAOF)) I hadn't noticed that before!
(09.05.04|*conundrum)) doesn't use fullscreen apps that much.
(09.05.09| conundrum)) Isn't do's Window class splash?
(09.05.13| conundrum)) Shouldn't that go on top? :o
(09.05.35| RAOF)) Yes, and probably?
(09.05.41| RAOF)) Metacity doesn't treat it like that, though.
(09.05.43| andywatts)) I'm pressing F11 in gnome-terminal and firefox, btw
(09.05.49| conundrum)) Hm.
(09.05.58| cszikszoy)) same for me
(09.05.59| conundrum)) Let me see what compiz does.
(09.06.01| RAOF)) So, that's a bug. Do you have a launchpad account?
(09.06.14| conundrum)) Yup, same thing.
(09.06.24| conundrum)) Guess we just need to set Do to always on top, as well?
(09.06.29| RAOF)) Guess so.
(09.06.32| Cimi_)) RAOF, y
(09.06.40| conundrum)) No, that won't do it.
(09.06.52| conundrum)) I just set Xchat to always on top and fullscreen firefox overwrote it.

This may be non-trivial!

Unable to reproduce bug.

Tried gnome-terminal and firefox in fullscreen (F11) and gnome-do came up on top. On both compiz and metacity, without any 'always-on-top' setting for gnome-do.

Ubuntu 8.10
Do 0.8.0
Do-plugins 0.8.0.1

Whereas I can still reproduce this, with both compiz 0.7.8 and metacity in Jaunty.

Hm. This might just be a problem with un-redirecting fullscreen windows. Maybe this should be forwarded to compiz & metacity?

Is this related to confusion over Docky?

F11 toggle on Firefox, Gnome-Terminal or SSHerminator will ALL cover gnome-do Docky here, on Intrepid/Compiz/Do 0.8. Changing the compiz setting "Unredirect Fullscreen Windows" to on (the default, I turn it off) had no effect.

But, ff I summon Do, then Docky summon mode does pop up over my fullscreen Firefox, but the dock will vanish back under the window when dismissed.

It doesn't seem to depend on interface here; summoning Docky doesn't
bring it to the front, either.

I can reproduce this bug running Jaunty Beta with maximus (maximizes all windows by default, to save space on my netbook's small screen).

The weird thing is that when I call up Do the first time, it does appear under the full-screen windows (but is still "in focus" -- i can input commands into it), but the second time I call Do it comes to the forefront without any problems.

I am experiencing the same as the last commenter, minus using maximus. If I keep calling Do, it will eventually come to the foreground. This just started in the last few days.

On my laptop was a compiz matter (focus steal activeted at medium effect)
To solve this I've put "(class=Do ) & title=Run Application"
(because also the "run application (alt+f2)" window gave me the same problem)
in ccsm -> general options->Focus&Raise Behaviour -> Focus Prevention Windows

The only "problem" now is that:
to reach the Docky in a fullscreen app (e.g firefox) I've to
1 - Press the key-combo to reach the search status
2 - Press ESC to reach the docky functions

I'm marking this invalid as we're doing what we should, it's up to the window manager to handle this correctly.
