Bug Description

This is more of a wishlist item than a bug report really.
It would be great if Docky had a stacks area, where the user could drop a folders, like on the Mac OS X Leopard dock. You would then have quick access to certain folders, and can navigate them as well.

When displaying a "grid", subfolders of the "stack folder" is displayed in a grid. When a folder in the grid is clicked, the grid is replaced with the contents of the clicked folder.
When displaying a "list", a menu system much like the gnome-menu allows for very quick access to files and subfolders of the folder object.

I'm attaching a screenshot os the "list" feature (which i am particularly fond of). Wouldn't this be a nifty docklet addition?

FYI, I hate stacks. I think Jason does too. You'll probably have to write this yourself. :-)

I don't really get how one could "hate" a piece of functionality that does essentially for files/directories what the gnome-menu does for applications? Oh, i forgot - you gnome-do guys don't like organising files, you want them show up in a "search" ;)

There already exists a panel-applet that does this actually; http://code.google.com/p/gnome-menu-file-browser-applet/ just like we already already have a gnome menu panel-applet - it's just that i would like this functionality in docky, because i really don't like the gnome panel that much (i much prefer docky).

I agree, its much better to organize your apps and common folders in lumps. I would like to have anjuta, gedit, glade, devhelp, and monodevelop in a programming lump. But I don't know c#, are there any ironpython bindings for making plugins?

Docky 1 (the Do theme version of Docky) has reached the end of its maintenance period and is no longer being supported. Docky 2 (the stand-alone application) is a complete rewrite and thus may or may not be affected by this bug.

Please feel free to install Docky 2 (PPA: https://edge.launchpad.net/~docky-core/+archive/ppa or souce: http://do.davebsd.com/wiki/Installing_Docky) and see if your bug still occurs. If it does, please file the bug against lp:docky (not lp:do!).
