Files and Folders Plugin needs a faster reindex rate or a manual reindex command

Bug Description

Whilst the files and folders plugin watches certain folders on my computer, I find that when I create a new file on my computer it can often take quite some time to be indexed by the files and folders plugin or that I have to do a 'manual' reindex.

For example, if I saved an image to my desktop (which is monitored by the plugin) and wanted to upload it to Flickr using the Flickr upload plugin I normally have to manually open the plugin preferences and remove then readd the desktop folder to the index for the file to be found by Gnome Do. It would be handy if folders that are watched are updated more regularly or if a command could be included to manually reindex (e.g. typing "reindex files and folders").

Thanks!

We're not going to special case the plugin, but there is a way you can access the file anyway, search for "desktop" then use the right arrow to enter the folder, your file will be there.

Hi Alex

Thanks for getting back to me - the method you suggested should work for now at least. However, I don't believe adding a reindex option would be classes as a "special case" and I'm sure other people would like similar functionality...

I believe the issue is that updating items is currently a "don't call
us, we'll call you" affair where the updates are initiated by Do core
and not the plugins. Adding something to core for this plugin would be
a special case. Having some method by which plugins can request an
update (such as this reindex option) is an issue that has been under
discussion for some time, and may be added once we've worked through
all the issues associated with it.

Hi Jason

Thanks for your explanation. Hopefully this may later be possible if such a request method is added to Do core.
