Bug Description

I was running Novacut 12.04 stable on daily build of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (from a few days before release)
and everything seemed to be working fine, but when after i made a project and clicked "start importer", I put in the SD card and nothing happened. So, I moved some HD MJPEG AVI's onto the card and tried again, but still nothing happened.
(The footage was not from an HDSLR)

Thanks for reporting this! The type of files on the card shouldn't matter as far as Dmedia detecting the card insert, so this is definitely a bug.

A few questions to help me track this down:

 1) Are you using an external or internal SD card reader?

 2) Did you reboot after upgrading to Novacut 12.04? Unfortunately, we currently don't have a way to restart the Dmedia and Novacut DBus services after you upgrade, so would you mind trying this again after you reboot?

Later on I might add some special debugging stuff into the daily build so I can collect more information about what's going on with your system.

Thanks again!

1) internal card reader
2) i'm currently running windows, so it was just on a live cd, so no, but maybe i'll try it with the new live cd. I'll let you know when I do.

P.S. do the videos need to be in any particular format or folder on the card? I'm assuming not

Are you still having this problem, John?

No, the format of the videos shouldn't matter. The importer imports all files, regardless of file type.

When the file type does matter is with metadata extraction, thumbnailing, and how Dmedia categorizes the files.

John, could you check whether you're still experiencing this on Ubuntu 12.10?

My hunch is the issue a bug in UDisks, hopefully one that doesn't exist in 12.10.

Also, did Dmedia never detect your SD card, or was this a one time fluke?
