Bug Description

In terminal I
>sudo aptitude remove novacut
>sudo rm -rf .dmedia
(confirm removal for home dir, then re-boot for good measure)
re-install novacut and the database persists (though the media files themselves are gone).

So the Dmedia database is stored in your home folder in:

.local/share/dmedia

The .dmedia directory is a "File Store". You can have many File Stores, typically most will be one removable drives. But the metadata is all in .local/share/dmedia.

Applications don't usually (if ever) remove user-data when they are removed, as that's kinda scary and something someone could easily do by mistake.

In your case, what were you trying to accomplish? What behavior were you expecting?

I was intending to wipe the database and its stored files in order to start with a completely fresh install. Uninstalling and re-installing Novacut did not start Dmedia with a clean db as expected.
