Binary package hint: compiz

When opening a new window, it is usually displaced; The title bar is above the
visible desktop area, the menu bar is the topmost thing visible of new windows.
This should somehow be changed so new windows are visible when opening them.

This is on feisty.

Not a bug in compiz-settings. You should try turning on place plugin if it's not already.

Also, make sure you're not switching from compiz to beryl or beryl to compiz as for some reason this causes problems. Either start compiz from metacity or have it start instead of metacity.

Thanks for commenting. As seen upstream, the place plugin was missing.

I'm suggesting to turn it on by default. Can anybody confirm this?

Feisty Herd-2, fresh install: Still happening. The place plugin should be turned on by default.

Confirmed on a fresh upgrade from edgy. "place" plugin is disabled by default, and hidden in the settings dialogue from http://www.compiz.biz/compiz-settings/compiz-settings.deb

Thanks for your bug. I see you are using unofficial compiz packages. Can you test with official compiz packages from feisty, with a fresh install, and tell us if this bug still exists?

I did use the official packages, but it doesn't happen on herd-3 anymore anyway. If somebody confirms, we can close this.
