Bug Description
Diodon is now having different faults, at least on Linux Mint 20. When reinstalled it cannot be launched -- Because, I noticed, its installation is not installing zeitgeist, nor zeitgeist-datahub, only zeitgeist-core, despite both being in its dependency list in Synaptic -- it's worth remembering that package installations do not follow the Synaptic dependency list, but the one built into the package; so of course there is a packaging error. And Diodon launcher in /usr/share/
Sorry that you still have problems running Diodon. What you are describing is not a packaging issue because zeitgeist-core is enough for Diodon to run (I on my machine also do not have zeitgeist nor zeitgeist-datahub installed). And the desktop files also do not need executable rights, only the executable /usr/bin/diodon does.
